Cofex Terms of Service

Welcome to Cofex.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Cofex mobile application and related services (the “Service”). By accessing or using Cofex, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

Cofex is a platform designed to help users connect with others for language exchange and conversation practice.
The Service may include features such as:
  • User profiles
  • Messaging between users
  • Language partner matching
  • Viewing nearby users
  • Organizing language exchange meetups
  • Searching for cafes or public meeting locations
Cofex provides a platform for users to connect but does not control or supervise interactions between users.

2. Eligibility

To use the Service, you must:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms
  • Provide accurate and truthful information
If you are under the age required by the laws of your country, you may only use the Service with parental or guardian consent.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, users must create an account.
Accounts may be created using:
  • Apple Sign-In
  • Google Sign-In
  • Other authentication methods supported by Cofex
You are responsible for:
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account
  • All activities conducted through your account
  • Ensuring that your account information remains accurate
You must not share your account with others.

4. User Conduct

Users agree to behave respectfully toward others.
You must not:
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Engage in discrimination or hate speech
  • Post offensive, inappropriate, or illegal content
  • Send spam or unsolicited advertising
  • Create fake profiles or impersonate another person
  • Use the Service for fraud or scams
  • Attempt to disrupt the Service
Cofex reserves the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules.

5. Safety and Offline Meetups

Cofex may allow users to arrange in-person meetings such as language practice sessions in cafes or public places.
Users acknowledge that:
  • Cofex does not verify the identity or background of users
  • Cofex does not conduct background checks
  • Users meet others at their own risk
Users are responsible for their own safety when interacting with others offline.
Cofex is not responsible for any incidents, disputes, injuries, or damages that occur during in-person meetings between users.

6. User Content

Users may submit content including:
  • Profile information
  • Messages
  • Images
  • Other user-generated content
You retain ownership of your content.
However, by submitting content to Cofex, you grant Cofex a non-exclusive license to use, display, store, and process that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
Users must ensure that their content:
  • Does not violate laws
  • Does not infringe third-party rights
  • Does not violate these Terms

7. Content Moderation

Cofex may review or remove content that violates these Terms or community standards.
Cofex reserves the right to:
  • Remove content
  • Restrict user access
  • Suspend or terminate accounts
This may occur without prior notice if necessary to protect users or the platform.

8. Reporting Users

Users may report inappropriate behavior or suspicious activity.
Cofex may review reports and take appropriate action, including:
  • Issuing warnings
  • Removing content
  • Suspending accounts
  • Permanently banning users
Cofex reserves discretion in determining appropriate enforcement actions.

9. Service Availability

Cofex may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time without prior notice.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”.
Cofex makes no guarantees regarding:
  • The behavior of other users
  • The accuracy of user information
  • The success of language exchange sessions
Users interact with others through the Service at their own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cofex shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from:
  • Use of the Service
  • User interactions
  • Offline meetups
  • Service interruptions

12. Privacy

Use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.
If significant changes are made, we will notify users through the application or website.
Continued use of the Service after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan.
